Musical masterpiece. The song thrush has one of the most beautiful songs in the bird world, with phrases it repeats over and over like a musician practicing their favorite tune. Poets have written about its lovely voice for hundreds of years.

Spotted style. This bird has warm brown feathers on top and cream or buff colored feathers underneath covered with black spots, like someone sprinkled pepper all over its belly.

Wide wanderer. Song thrushes breed (have babies) across a huge area called the West Palearctic, which includes Europe, western Asia, and northern Africa, then many fly south for winter.

Four family branches. Scientists recognize four different subspecies of song thrush, meaning there are slightly different versions of this bird in different parts of the world, kind of like regional accents.
