Mega strong rocket. The Space Launch System is one of the most powerful rockets ever built by humans, designed to launch the Orion spacecraft carrying up to four astronauts on incredible journeys.

Moon mission rocket. SLS is NASA's main rocket for the Artemis program, which aims to send astronauts back to the Moon and eventually explore even farther into space.

First launch was recent. The Space Launch System launched for the first time in November 2022, and it successfully sent an uncrewed spacecraft on a test mission around the Moon.

Second vehicle to go far. SLS became only the second rocket ever to carry humans beyond Earth's orbit, following the legendary Saturn V rocket that took astronauts to the Moon during the Apollo program in the 1960s and 1970s.
