Cool Facts
Official Swiss money. The Swiss franc is the currency that people in Switzerland and Liechtenstein use to buy things, just like dollars in the US or euros in most of Europe.
Printed and made carefully. The Swiss National Bank creates all the paper money (banknotes), while a special government mint called Swissmint makes the coins.
Legal in unexpected places. Besides Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Swiss franc is also the official money in Campione d'Italia, a tiny Italian town that is completely surrounded by Swiss territory.
Different from euros. Even though Switzerland is in Europe, it doesn't use euros like most European countries do, and has kept its own franc instead.
