Saturn's fifth-largest moon. Tethys orbits Saturn and measures about 1,060 kilometers across, which is roughly one-third the size of Earth's moon.

Discovered long ago. An astronomer named Giovanni Domenico Cassini found Tethys in 1684, which was the same year he discovered another Saturnian moon called Iapetus.

Named after a Titan. The moon was named after Tethys from Greek mythology, an ancient Titan goddess associated with fresh water and the sea.

Giant impact scar. Tethys has an enormous crater called Odysseus that stretches about 450 kilometers across, creating a massive impact basin on its surface.

Frozen and cratered. The moon is covered in ice and rock, with a bright, cratered surface that makes it one of the most visually distinctive moons around Saturn.
