Tree-Kangaroo

Lives in trees. Tree-kangaroos are the only kangaroos that have fully adapted to living in trees, leaping through the rainforests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia instead of hopping on the ground.

Built for climbing. Their back legs are shorter and stronger than ground kangaroos, their tails are longer for balance, and their claws are sharp, making them perfect for gripping branches and climbing up and down trees.

Tropical home. These amazing animals live in the rainforests of New Guinea and far northeastern Queensland, Australia, where it's warm and humid and trees grow thick and tall.

Facing danger. Most tree-kangaroo species are threatened because of hunting and habitat destruction, meaning their rainforest homes are disappearing and their numbers are dropping.

Marsupial babies. Like all kangaroos, tree-kangaroos are marsupials, so their babies are born tiny and finish growing safely inside their mother's pouch.
