Mountain dwellers. In old Norse stories, trolls made their homes in isolated rocky areas, mountains, and deep caves far away from where people lived.

Small family groups. Trolls lived together in tiny family units rather than large communities, taking care of each other in their remote homes.

Not very helpful. Unlike some magical creatures in folklore, trolls were rarely kind or willing to assist human beings who encountered them.

Ancient Norse tales. We know about trolls from very old Norse sources and mythology written down by people in Scandinavia hundreds of years ago.
