Tube-shaped snout. Trumpetfish have long, thin snouts that look like musical trumpets. This special shape helps them suck in small fish and crustaceans super fast when they get close enough.

Master of disguise. Trumpetfish are experts at blending in with seaweed, coral, and rocks on the ocean floor. They stay perfectly still and wait for unsuspecting meals to swim right past them.

Ocean ambush hunter. Instead of chasing prey like other fish, trumpetfish hide and wait. When a small fish comes near, they strike with lightning speed using their tube-shaped mouths.

Distant seahorse cousins. Trumpetfish belong to the same family as seahorses and cornetfishes. They all share a similar body plan and are specially adapted for hunting in specific ocean habitats.

Three special species. There are exactly three species of trumpetfish living in warm oceans around the world. Each one has its own hunting style and preferred hiding spots.
