Seven Emirates United. The UAE is made up of seven separate emirates (like mini-countries), with Abu Dhabi as the capital. Each emirate has its own ruler, but they work together as one nation.

Dubai's Dazzling Rise. Dubai is the UAE's largest and most famous city, known for its stunning skyscrapers like the Burj Khalifa and enormous shopping malls. It sits right on the Persian Gulf coast.

Desert Meets Sea. The UAE sits at the eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, with Oman and Saudi Arabia as neighbors. Most of the country is desert.

Arabic and English. Arabic is the official language, but English is the most spoken language and used for business. This is because the UAE attracts people from all around the world.

Bustling Population. Over 11 million people live in the UAE today, a huge jump from decades ago when it was much smaller and quieter.
