Created in 1971. Uno was invented by a man named Merle Robbins in Reading, Ohio. He came up with this simple but exciting game that became popular all around the world.

Match colors or numbers. You win by being the first person to play all your cards. Each turn, you match either the color or the number of the card on top of the pile, or you draw a new card and skip your turn.

Special action cards. Some cards do wild things like Skip (stops the next player's turn), Reverse (makes everyone go backwards), or Draw Two (makes someone pick up extra cards). These cards can totally change who's winning.

Say Uno to win. When you have only one card left, you must shout 'Uno!' If you forget and someone catches you, you have to draw penalty cards. This makes the game exciting and keeps everyone paying attention.

Now owned by Mattel. Mattel, a huge toy company, bought the rights to Uno in 1992. Since then, millions of Uno decks have been sold, and the game is played in homes, schools, and tournaments everywhere.
