Pee storage tank. Your bladder is a hollow, stretchy organ that catches urine flowing down from your kidneys through tubes called ureters. When you need to go to the bathroom, the pee exits through another tube called the urethra.

Can stretch big. A typical adult bladder holds between 300 and 500 milliliters of urine before you feel the urge to go, but it can actually stretch to hold way more than that if needed.

Sits low down. Your bladder rests on your pelvic floor, which is the bowl-shaped set of bones and muscles at the bottom of your belly that helps support all your organs.

Works with kidneys. Your bladder is part of a team: your kidneys filter waste from your blood to make urine, which travels to your bladder for storage, and then leaves your body when you go to the bathroom.
