Valles Marineris

Enormous Martian canyon. Valles Marineris is a system of canyons on Mars that stretches for more than 4,000 kilometers (2,500 miles), making it way longer than the Grand Canyon on Earth.

Deep and wide. This massive canyon is about 200 kilometers wide and plunges down up to 7 kilometers deep, which is roughly the height that airplanes fly at.

Biggest in the solar system. No other canyon anywhere in our solar system (not even on any other planet) comes close to being as large as Valles Marineris.

Located on Mars. Valles Marineris runs along the surface of Mars and is positioned east of a huge volcanic region called Tharsis.
