Incredibly compact capital. Valletta is only 0.61 square kilometres, making it the second-smallest capital city in the entire European Union. That's smaller than many city parks you might visit!

Two harbours embrace it. The city sits on a peninsula with the Grand Harbour on one side and Marsamxett Harbour on the other, giving it stunning water views in almost every direction.

Southernmost European capital. Valletta holds a unique record as the capital city located furthest south in all of Europe, which means it has warm, sunny weather most of the year.

Small but bustling. Even though only about 5,000 people actually live in Valletta, it's a busy centre for shopping, restaurants, and café culture where lots of visitors and workers come each day.

Named with humility. Valletta's other name, Città Umilissima, means 'Most Humble City' in Italian, showing the thoughtful way its founders wanted to describe their new capital.
