Veil Nebula

A giant cosmic cloud. The Veil Nebula is made of hot, glowing gas and dust floating in space within the constellation Cygnus. It's so large that it stretches across an area of sky many times bigger than the moon.

Born from a star explosion. The Veil Nebula is actually a supernova remnant, meaning it's what's left behind after a massive star exploded billions of years ago. The explosion created the beautiful, wispy structure we see today.

Glows with ionized gas. The gas in the Veil Nebula is so hot that it's ionized, meaning the atoms have been stripped of their electrons and glow with brilliant colors like red, blue, and green.

Located in Cygnus. You can find the Veil Nebula in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan, if you look at the night sky with a telescope during summer and autumn evenings in the Northern Hemisphere.

Looks like lace curtains. The Veil Nebula gets its name because its wispy, delicate structure resembles fine lace or thin veils draped across the darkness of space.
