White-Nosed Coati

Amazing snout. The white-nosed coati has an extra-flexible snout it can rotate and point in any direction, helping it sniff out hidden food in the dirt and under logs.

Striped tail helper. Its long tail, which makes up about half its body length of 110 centimeters, helps it balance while climbing and moving through trees.

Size range. Coatis aren't all the same size, females weigh about 3 to 6 kilograms while the biggest males can reach 9 kilograms, roughly the weight of a bowling ball.

Social travelers. These animals often live together in groups called bands and search for food during the day, making them fun to spot in the wild.

Many local names. In Central and South America, people call them by different names like pizote, tejón, and gato solo depending on what country and language they use.
