Austrian treasure. Wiener schnitzel comes from Vienna, Austria, and is one of the country's most beloved dishes. The name 'Wiener' means it's from Vienna, just like a hot dog that came from Frankfurt is sometimes called a frankfurter.
Pounded paper-thin. The veal cutlet is pounded super thin before cooking, which helps it cook fast and makes it extra tender. This technique is what makes schnitzel so special and different from a regular steak.
Golden and crispy. The meat gets dipped in beaten eggs and then coated with breadcrumbs before being pan-fried in butter or oil. The result is a golden, crunchy outside with tender meat inside that's absolutely delicious.
Served with style. Wiener schnitzel is traditionally served with lemon wedges and often with a side of potatoes or salad. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice is the perfect finishing touch.
