The Unisphere symbol. A giant stainless-steel model of Earth became the fair's most famous icon. It was so impressive that it still stands in Flushing Meadows park today as a reminder of this incredible event.
Massive scale of the fair. The fairground covered 646 acres, which is almost as big as 500 football fields! It had 139 pavilions, 34 shows, and displays from 80 nations, 24 U.S. states, and nearly 350 American companies.

Peace through Understanding theme. The fair's central message was that nations could come together peacefully by learning about each other's cultures, foods, art, and innovations.
Five different areas. Visitors could explore the Federal and State area, International pavilions, Transportation exhibits, Lake Amusement rides, and Industrial displays, each showing different sides of human achievement.
Entertainment everywhere. Beyond exhibitions, the fair featured films, performances, art displays, and food from around the world, making it as fun as it was educational.
