Alioramus

A smaller tyrannosaur. Alioramus was a meat-eating dinosaur related to the famous T. rex, but it was smaller and more slender, making it a nimble hunter in the forests and floodplains of ancient Mongolia.

Found in Mongolia. Scientists discovered fossils of Alioramus in the Nemegt Formation, a region in Mongolia that was once a wet, muddy floodplain about 70 million years ago.

Unique facial features. Unlike its famous cousin T. rex, Alioramus had a longer snout and different teeth arrangement, which helped it catch smaller prey in its humid swampy home.

Two species discovered. Scientists have identified two species of Alioramus, with the second one found in 2009 having a much more complete skeleton that told us lots about how it lived and moved.
