Lighter than steel. Aluminium weighs only about one-third as much as steel, making it perfect for building things like airplanes and bicycles that need to be strong but not too heavy.

Shiny and reflective. Aluminium looks like silver and bounces light off its surface really well, which is why it's used in mirrors and shiny packages.

Self-protecting layer. When aluminium touches air, it instantly forms a thin invisible shield of aluminium oxide on its surface that stops it from rusting or breaking down further.

Not magnetic. Unlike iron, aluminium doesn't stick to magnets, which makes it useful for special equipment that needs to avoid magnetic interference.

Bendable and recyclable. Aluminium is soft and ductile, meaning you can bend it and shape it without breaking it, and it can be recycled over and over again without losing its quality.
