Amazon River Dolphin

Pink and rare. Amazon river dolphins, also called botos, are pink colored whales that live only in South American rivers. They're found nowhere else in the world, making them super special.

Echolocation experts. These dolphins use echolocation (like built-in sonar) to hunt fish in murky river water where they can't see very well. Their big, bumpy heads help them send out clicking sounds to find food.

River explorers. Amazon river dolphins live in three different river systems: the Amazon basin, the upper Madeira River in Bolivia, and the Orinoco basin. There are three different groups of them, each living in their own area.

Toothed hunters. These dolphins are actually whales with lots of teeth that they use to catch and eat fish. They're much smaller than ocean whales and perfectly shaped for hunting in tight river spaces.
