Incredibly old giant. Angel Oak is estimated to be 400 to 500 years old, which means it was already a big tree when America was founded. It's one of the oldest trees on the East Coast.

Massive branch spread. The longest branch stretches out 187 feet from the trunk, and all the shade it creates covers about 17,200 square feet. That's bigger than two football fields put together.

Charleston's treasure. The tree grows in Angel Oak Park on Johns Island near Charleston, South Carolina, and it was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2026.

Living oak champion. Angel Oak was officially registered as the 210th tree in the Live Oak Society, which is a special group that honors and tracks the largest live oak trees in the world.
