Grown all over. Apricots come from trees in the genus Prunus, and the most common kind is called Prunus armeniaca. People around the world grow and eat them.

Turkey leads the world. Turkey grows one out of every five apricots produced on Earth. In 2023 alone, the world made 3.7 million tonnes of apricots, and Turkey was responsible for about 20 percent of that amazing amount.

The tree and fruit. An apricot can mean either the soft, fuzzy orange fruit itself or the tree it grows on. The fruit has a big seed inside called a pit.

Warm weather lover. Apricot trees grow best in places with warm, sunny summers and cool winters. That's why Turkey, with its perfect climate, produces so many.

Golden and sweet. Apricots are full of natural sweetness and have a lovely peachy-orange color. People eat them fresh, dry them like raisins, or cook them into jam.
