Water Carrier. Aquarius gets its name from the Latin word meaning 'water-carrier' or 'cup-carrier.' Ancient people imagined a figure pouring water from a jug when they looked at the stars in this constellation.

Super Ancient. Aquarius is one of the oldest constellations known to humans. The famous astronomer Ptolemy listed it as one of 48 constellations way back in the 2nd century, and it's still one of the 88 recognized constellations today.
