Ocean wanderer. Atlantic blue marlins live their whole lives in the open ocean, far from land, in the warm tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Incredible spear. These fish have a long, pointed snout called a bill that they use to slash through schools of smaller fish, making them fierce hunters of the deep sea.

Truly enormous. Atlantic blue marlins are among the largest fish in the Atlantic Ocean, growing big enough that an adult marlin can be taller than a person standing up.

Closely related cousins. The Atlantic blue marlin is very similar to the Indo-Pacific blue marlin found in other oceans, and scientists are still debating whether they should be considered the same species or different ones.
