Incredible speedster. Atlantic bluefin tuna can swim up to 43 miles per hour, making them one of the fastest fish in the entire ocean. They use this speed to chase down smaller fish like sardines and anchovies.
Warm-blooded fish. Unlike most fish, Atlantic bluefin tuna can keep their body temperature warmer than the water around them. This special ability lets them stay active and powerful even in cold, deep ocean areas.
Ocean wanderers. These tuna migrate across the entire Atlantic Ocean, traveling thousands of miles each year between feeding and breeding grounds. Some fish are known to cross from North America all the way to Europe.
Built for power. Atlantic bluefin tuna have muscular bodies shaped like torpedoes, with strong tails that propel them forward with incredible force. An adult can weigh as much as a small car and grow over 10 feet long.
Highly prized catch. Fishermen value Atlantic bluefin tuna so much that a single fish can sell for thousands of dollars, making them one of the most expensive fish in the world.
