Gigantic long-necked dinosaur. Atlasaurus was a sauropod, which means it had a super long neck, a tiny head, and four sturdy legs to hold up its enormous body.
North African resident. This dinosaur lived in what is now North Africa, in the middle of the Jurassic period, which was about 170 million years ago.
Herbivore giant. Like all sauropods, Atlasaurus ate plants and needed to munch on huge amounts of vegetation every day to fuel its massive body.
Weighed tons. Atlasaurus was one of the heaviest animals ever to walk on Earth, estimated to weigh as much as 10 African elephants combined.
