Giant horned dinosaur. Torosaurus was a chasmosaurine ceratopsian, which means it was a distant cousin of Triceratops with huge horns and a big bony frill protecting its neck and head.

Roamed North America. Fossils of Torosaurus have been found across the Western Interior of North America, stretching from Saskatchewan in the north all the way down to Texas in the south.

Lived near the end. Torosaurus lived between 68 and 66 million years ago during the Maastrichtian Stage, which was near the very end of the Cretaceous Period before dinosaurs went extinct.

Plant eating dinosaur. Unlike some dinosaurs that hunted meat, Torosaurus was herbivorous, meaning it spent its days eating plants and vegetation.

Impressive skull frill. The enormous bony frill on Torosaurus's head was one of its most striking features and may have been used to attract mates or show dominance to other dinosaurs.
