Zuniceratops

Ancient horned dinosaur. Zuniceratops was a ceratopsian dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now New Mexico. It was much smaller than the famous Triceratops that came later.

Lived long ago. This dinosaur walked the Earth during the Turonian stage of the Late Cretaceous, which was about 90 million years ago. That's before many of the giant dinosaurs everyone knows about lived.

Found in New Mexico. Scientists discovered fossils of Zuniceratops in New Mexico, which tells us these horned dinosaurs lived in North America during the Cretaceous period.

One special species. There is only one known species of Zuniceratops called Zuniceratops christopheri. Scientists study this one species to learn about how early horned dinosaurs evolved.
