Fearless painter. Berthe Morisot was one of the first women to become a leading member of the Impressionist circle in Paris during the 1870s. She painted scenes of everyday life with loose brushstrokes and bright colors that were totally new and exciting at the time.

Self-taught excellence. She learned to paint from her mother and other talented artists, rather than going to a formal academy like most male painters did. Despite this, she became just as skilled and respected as her male Impressionist colleagues.

Unique perspective. Morisot often painted intimate domestic scenes, gardens, and portraits, focusing on how light changed the colors and mood of a room. Her paintings felt personal and dreamy, like little moments frozen in time.

Master printmaker too. Beyond painting, she also created beautiful etchings and prints that showed her skill with different artistic techniques. She was constantly experimenting with new ways to express herself through art.
