Created The Wind in the Willows. Kenneth Grahame wrote this famous children's book in 1908, and it's still loved by readers around the world today. The story follows the adventures of Mole, Rat, Badger, and Toad.

Born in Scotland. Grahame was Scottish, but he spent most of his childhood living with his grandmother in England after his mother died and his father couldn't care for the children.

Worked at the Bank of England. Before becoming famous as a writer, Grahame had a successful career working at the Bank of England, managing money instead of writing stories full time.

Wrote other books first. Before The Wind in the Willows, Grahame published three other books: Pagan Papers, The Golden Age, and Dream Days. He built his writing skills before creating his masterpiece.

Attended Oxford School. Grahame went to St Edward's School in Oxford, but his dream of going to university didn't happen, so he took a job at the bank instead.
