Cool Facts
Two-headed muscle. The biceps is named for its two heads, or starting points, both located on your shoulder blade. These two heads join together to form one strong muscle running down your upper arm.
Flexes and twists. The biceps does two main jobs: it bends your elbow to lift things, and it twists your forearm so your palm can face up or down. This twisting motion is called supination.
Connects shoulder to forearm. The biceps stretches across two joints in your arm. One head attaches near your shoulder, while the other head comes from a different part of your shoulder blade, and both connect to your forearm bone.

Gets bigger with exercise. When you do exercises like pull-ups or curls with weights, your biceps get stronger and can look bigger as the muscle fibers grow. The bigger your biceps gets, the more weight you can lift.
