Made for chalk. Blackboards are covered with a special dark surface, usually black or dark green, that chalk sticks to perfectly. The chalk is made from calcium sulphate or calcium carbonate, which is the same stuff found in rocks and shells.

Reusable forever. Unlike paper, you can write on a blackboard over and over again. Just wipe away the chalk dust with an eraser or cloth, and the board is ready for new words and drawings.

Classroom staple. For over 200 years, blackboards have been the go-to tool for teachers to show lessons to whole classes at once. They let everyone see the same information at the same time.
