Tropical ocean dweller. Blue tangs live in warm coral reef waters around the world, darting between corals and rocks to hide from bigger fish.

Hidden weapon. They have a sharp, venomous spine on each side of their tail that pops out like a switchblade when they feel scared or attacked, making them way tougher than they look.

Seriously blue. Their bright blue color comes from special pigments in their skin that help them blend in with the ocean and look spectacular to other fish.

Algae lovers. Blue tangs munch on algae that grows on coral and rocks, which actually helps keep coral reefs healthy by clearing away the stuff that can smother them.

Territory protectors. They claim their own little patch of reef as home and will chase away other fish that try to muscle in on their space.
