Cool Facts
Foam board fun. A bodyboard is a short, rectangular piece of special foam that's lighter and easier to control than a surfboard. You lie on it and use your fins to paddle out and catch waves.
Fins help you move. Bodyboarders wear swim fins on their feet for extra power and control. The fins let you paddle faster and turn sharper when riding a wave toward the shore.
Invented in 1971. Tom Morey invented the Boogie Board in 1971, which started the whole bodyboarding craze. People sometimes call bodyboarding 'airfrying' because of this fun invention.
Riding the wave. You ride a bodyboard on the crest, face, and curl of a breaking wave, just like surfing but on your belly. The wave carries you all the way back to shore while you steer with your body and fins.
