Cool Facts
Fuzzy white rind. Brie has a special white mold growing on its outside that looks fuzzy, and here's the cool part: you're supposed to eat it! The rind tastes different depending on what goes into making the cheese and where it's made.
From France. Brie comes from a region in France also called Brie, which is why the cheese has that name. It's been made there for a very long time and is one of France's most famous cheeses.
Super creamy. Brie is packed with butterfat, which makes it extra soft and creamy. It has between 60% and 75% butterfat, making it a little richer than its close relative Camembert.
Pale and dreamy. The cheese itself is pale yellow with a slight greyish tinge, giving it a smooth and elegant look when you cut it open. The inside gets softer and gooier as it gets older.
Camembert's cousin. Brie is very similar to another famous French soft cheese called Camembert, but they come from different parts of France and Brie is a bit fattier.
