Tiny forest hunter. The bush dog is one of the smallest wild dogs in the world, perfectly built for sneaking through dense rainforest undergrowth and hunting small prey like rodents and birds.

Back from extinction. Scientists found bush dog fossils in Brazilian caves and thought the whole species had died out long ago, until they discovered living ones still hiding in the rainforests.

Super rare now. Even though bush dogs live across a huge area from Central America to South America, they are almost impossible to find in most places except in Suriname, Guyana, and Peru.

Mystery animal. Bush dogs are so shy and hidden that scientists still don't know much about them, making them one of the rainforest's most elusive canines.
