Gigantic curved arc. The Carpathians form a sweeping 1,500-kilometer arc across Central and Southeast Europe, making it the third-longest mountain range in all of Europe.

Super tall peaks. The highest mountains in the Carpathians, found in the Tatra Mountains, tower above 2,600 meters into the sky, with other peaks in Romania climbing past 2,550 meters.

Stretches far and wide. Only two European mountain ranges are longer than the Carpathians: the Urals and the Scandinavian Mountains, which shows just how massive this system really is.
