Organized farm workers. Cesar Chavez helped create unions so that farm workers could demand fair pay, better working conditions, and respect from their employers. Before his work, many farm workers had almost no say in how they were treated.

Partnered with Dolores Huerta. Together with Dolores Huerta and Gilbert Padilla, Chavez co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, which grew into the powerful United Farm Workers union. They worked side by side to give farm workers a real voice.

Used peaceful protest. Instead of violence, Chavez led strikes, marches, and boycotts to push for change. He believed that nonviolent action, inspired by his Catholic faith, was the strongest way to fight injustice.

Changed American labor. Chavez's activism helped farm workers win better pay, safer working conditions, and legal protections. His work proved that ordinary people could stand up and win big changes for themselves and their families.

Inspired a movement. Cesar Chavez became a symbol of the civil rights movement and showed how one determined person could organize thousands of people to fight for what is fair and right.
