Giant Floats and Costumes. The parade features enormous, beautifully decorated floats and incredible costumes that parade down the streets. The name 'Chingay' actually comes from two Hokkien words meaning 'true art' and 'art of costume,' showing how important the creative designs are.

Celebrating Deities. The Chingay Parade celebrates the birthdays of Chinese deities and sometimes honors Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. It's a way for communities to show respect and joy during the Chinese New Year festivities.

Malaysia and Singapore. This amazing parade happens every year in both Malaysia and Singapore as part of Chinese New Year celebrations. What started as a Chinese tradition has grown so much that people from all communities now enjoy and participate in it.
