Started by street performers. Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 by Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix, two former street performers from Canada who dreamed of creating something completely new.

Largest modern circus. It's the biggest contemporary circus company in the whole world, performing for millions of people across the globe.

Made in Montreal. The company is headquartered in Saint-Michel, Montreal, Canada, which is where all the creative magic happens.

No animals needed. Unlike traditional circuses with lions and elephants, Cirque du Soleil features incredible human acrobats, musicians, and dancers telling stories through their performances.

Totally different idea. Instead of focusing on animal tricks, Cirque du Soleil combined gymnastics, music, and dramatic storytelling to create a completely new kind of circus that had never been seen before.
