Connected Computers. A computer network links multiple computers together so they can send messages and share files with each other. Think of it like a postal system where computers are the houses and data is the mail.

Communication Protocols. Protocols are the agreed-upon rules that computers follow when talking to each other, like a secret language they both understand. Without protocols, computers wouldn't know how to interpret the information they receive.

Networking Hardware. Special equipment like routers, switches, and cables are the physical tools that make networks work. These devices direct information from one computer to another, kind of like traffic directors at an intersection.

Many Sizes. Networks can be tiny (connecting just two computers in your home) or enormous (like the internet connecting billions of devices worldwide). Even your school probably has its own network connecting classroom computers.

Shared Resources. Networks let computers share printers, storage space, and internet connections so everyone doesn't need their own of everything. This saves money and makes it easier for people to work together.
