Cool Facts
Copper is the star. Copper alloys are metals where copper is the main ingredient, mixed with other metals to make them even better. The extra metals give copper new powers like extra strength or different colors.
Super rust-proof. Copper alloys resist corrosion way better than many other metals, which means they don't rust or get damaged by water and air as easily. That's why they're perfect for things that need to last a long time.
Bronze uses tin. Bronze is made by mixing copper with tin, and people have been making it for over 5,000 years. It's much harder than pure copper and was so useful that an entire historical period is named after it: the Bronze Age.
Brass shines bright. Brass is copper mixed with zinc instead of tin, and it has a beautiful golden-yellow color. It's used for musical instruments, decorative objects, and all sorts of things because it looks fancy and resists corrosion.
Museums love it. Today, museums and scientists use the term "copper alloy" to describe all these different mixtures because it's more exact and scientific than the old confusing names.
