Ancient aerial acrobats. Damselflies have been zipping through the air for over 150 million years, which means they were flying around when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth.

Wings that fold closed. Unlike their cousins the dragonflies, damselflies fold their long, slender wings along their bodies when they rest, making them look like they're holding a tiny book closed.

Smaller but mighty. Damselflies are usually smaller and skinnier than dragonflies, but don't let their delicate appearance fool you, they are fierce hunters that can catch other insects mid-flight.

Found almost everywhere. You can spot damselflies on every continent except Antarctica, from rainforests to ponds to even deserts, wherever there is water nearby.

Close cousins to dragonflies. Damselflies belong to the same order called Odonata as dragonflies, making them like brothers and sisters in the insect world.
