Cool Facts
Sunny yellow flowers. Dandelions have bright yellow flowers that look like tiny suns. Each flower is actually made up of hundreds of tiny petals clustered together.
Found almost everywhere. You can find dandelions on almost every continent except tropical rainforests and frozen polar regions. They're super adaptable and love temperate climates where it's not too hot or too cold.
Originally from Europe. The two most common dandelion species came from Europe but spread to North America and other places. They're so good at surviving that they now grow wild all over the world.
Scientists study them. There's even a special science called taraxacology that focuses just on studying dandelions! That shows how interesting these common plants really are.
Growing in many places. Dandelions don't just grow in meadows. You can find them in yards, gardens, roadsides, and even between crops where farmers didn't plant them.
