A country of islands. Denmark includes a big peninsula called Jutland plus 406 islands scattered around it. It sits between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, making it a perfect spot for ships and sailors.

Part of a bigger kingdom. Denmark is officially the Kingdom of Denmark, which also includes two autonomous territories far away: the Faroe Islands and Greenland in the North Atlantic Ocean. This makes Denmark much larger than just the main country you see on most maps.

Surrounded by water. Denmark is the southernmost Scandinavian country, nestled between Sweden to the east and Norway to the north. It even shares a small border with Germany to the south, making it a bridge between Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.

Northern European location. Being between two seas gives Denmark special importance for trade and fishing. The country's long coastlines and many islands have shaped its history and culture for thousands of years.
