Dust Storm

Wind creates chaos. Dust storms happen when strong winds called gust fronts blow across dry land and kick up millions of tiny particles of sand and soil into the air all at once.

Vanishing visibility. These storms can be so thick that you can't see more than a few feet in front of you, making it dangerous for cars, airplanes, and people outside.

Particles travel far. Tiny dust particles get lifted thousands of feet high and can travel thousands of miles through the sky, moving soil from one place and dropping it somewhere else entirely.

Health hazards. Breathing in all that dust and sand can hurt your lungs and airways, which is why dust storms pose serious health risks to people and animals caught in them.

Farming takes a hit. When dust storms happen again and again in the same area, they can ruin soil quality and make it harder to grow crops, eventually turning fertile land into desert.
