Massive Island. Borneo is so big that it covers about 288,869 square miles, making it the third-largest island on Earth. More than 23 million people call it home.
Right on the Equator. The equator runs straight through the middle of Borneo, dividing the island almost exactly in half. This puts it right at the center of Southeast Asia.
Three Nations Share It. Borneo belongs to three different countries: Indonesia (where it's called Kalimantan), Malaysia, and Brunei. Each country controls a different part of the island.
