Tallest in the Americas. Aconcagua stands higher than any other mountain from Canada all the way down to the tip of South America. Only mountains in Asia are taller.

One of Seven Summits. Climbers who want the ultimate challenge try to reach the highest peak on each continent, and Aconcagua is the South American one. It's one of the most achievable of these seven famous summits.

Located in Argentina. This giant mountain sits in Mendoza Province in the Andes range, right on the border between Argentina and Chile. The Andes is the longest mountain range in the world.

Almost 7 kilometers high. At 6,967 meters, Aconcagua is so tall that the air gets very thin near the top, making it harder to breathe. Climbers need special training to handle the altitude.

Super prominent peak. Aconcagua is the second-most topographically prominent mountain on Earth, meaning it rises dramatically from its base without nearby peaks blocking the view.
