Tiny but ancient. Eoraptor was one of the first dinosaurs to walk Earth, living about 231 to 228 million years ago during the Late Triassic period, long before the huge dinosaurs like Triceratops or T. rex appeared.

Ate everything. Unlike many dinosaurs that were either meat-eaters or plant-eaters, Eoraptor had different types of teeth, which means it munched on both plants and small animals to survive.

Built for running. Eoraptor was small and lightly built, probably no bigger than a modern dog, which made it quick and agile compared to the giant dinosaurs that came later.

Found in Argentina. Scientists discovered Eoraptor's almost complete skeleton in northwestern Argentina, in a region that was once part of an ancient supercontinent called Gondwana.

Earliest sauropodomorph. Eoraptor belonged to an early dinosaur group called sauropodomorphs, which would eventually evolve into some of the largest animals ever to exist.
