Massive long-necked dinosaur. Antarctosaurus was a titanosaurian sauropod, which means it was one of the biggest land animals that ever lived, with an enormously long neck for reaching high tree leaves.

South American giant. This dinosaur lived during the Late Cretaceous Period in what is now South America, making it one of the continent's most impressive prehistoric residents.

Named by a famous scientist. A German paleontologist named Friedrich von Huene discovered and described Antarctosaurus in 1929, identifying two main species: Antarctosaurus wichmannianus and Antarctosaurus giganteus.

Mystery about other species. While scientists have named five species of Antarctosaurus over the years, many of them are now considered questionable or may not actually belong to this genus at all.
