Hypacrosaurus

Hollow rounded crest. Hypacrosaurus had a tall, hollow crest on its head like its cousin Corythosaurus, but Hypacrosaurus's crest was smaller and less straight. These crests may have helped dinosaurs make sounds or recognize each other.

Nests and babies. In 1987, scientists discovered nests, eggs, and baby Hypacrosaurus fossils in Canada. This discovery was so important that it made Hypacrosaurus famous, even though people didn't know much about it before.

Duck-like dinosaur. Hypacrosaurus was a duckbill dinosaur, which means it had a flat, wide snout shaped like a duck's bill. Duckbills walked on two legs and probably ate plants.

Late Cretaceous champion. Hypacrosaurus lived between 75 and 69.5 million years ago and was the latest hollow-crested duckbill known from good fossils in North America. It roamed what is now Alberta, Canada and Montana, United States.
